Crabgrass Treatment Program
Trad’s Crabgrass Program is an “add-on” to the Basic Lawn Program. Crabgrass is not controlled or prevented with broadleaf weed control products so Trad’s uses a pre-emergent product specifically for crabgrass. The Crabgrass Treatment Program is two applications of a pre-emergent crabgrass control product per year. The first application is made in January and the second application is made in March/April. The cost of the applications is prorated over the course of the yearly Lawn Care Program Agreement, and is added to the monthly charge.
Crabgrass is controlled over time. Trad’s uses a specialized crabgrass pre-emergent product that works to slow new growth. Customers see a slow reduction in crabgrass over time. As the crabgrass declines, the St. Augustine turf fills in, eliminating the need for grass replacement. Trad’s program is effective when crabgrass growth is mixed with turf. When solid areas of crabgrass are allowed to develop, re-sodding will be required. Once the new sod is actively growing, the use of Trad’s Program will help control future crabgrass growth.
Control of crabgrass is a long-term goal, and can take years. Crabgrass is an aggressive grower and produces a great quantity of seeds. Customers with crabgrass should take special care to bag lawn clippings when seeds have emerged.
